Hi new to this forum,
I have a question about ESA to UC.
My hubby receives ESA and in the support group, he also receives pip and SDP because he is classed as a carer for me but doesn't get carers allowance.
I'm on pip and receive carers allowance for my husband.
When we fill our forms in will I have to fill in the health section of UC I don't get ESA but on my husbands ESA claim.
Will my hubby be transferred into the lcwra from the support group? Will he have another assessment?

Heya @snuggles65 and welcome to the community.

I'm afraid I don't know all the ins and outs of migration over to UC, but I'll move your post over to the UC category, so more people in the know will be able to see and hopefully offer some top support. I hope that's ok?1 -
When you claim UC your husband will be entitled to the LCWRA element from the start of your claim. As you are caring for him then you will be entitled to the carers element. You will not need to report your health condition because you are a carer and will have no work commitments.
For the avoidance of doubt, the reason why single SDP is included with the ESA is because you're both claiming a qualifying disability benefit and no one claims carers allowance or carers element of UC for looking after you. The SDP is paid for you, not for your husband. The reason it's not paid for your husband is because you're claiming carers allowance for looking after him.2 -
Thank you so much poppy 123456 you have answered my question than the uc helpline couldn't1

You're welcome. I'm not surprised the helpline couldn't help because they are just a call centre with very little knowledge of UC other than to read from a screen.1

That's a little misleading. As I previously advised, when they do claim UC if the husband is still in the Support Group they will be entitled to the LCWRA element from the start of their claim. There's no other various factors or outcome of the transition process.Baylee85 said:When transitioning from ESA to UC, your husband's ESA claim may affect how you fill out the health section on your UC forms. Since you receive PIP and carer's allowance for your husband, it's important to accurately represent your situation on the forms. As for your husband, whether he'll be transferred into the LCWRA from the support group and if he'll undergo another assessment depends on various factors, including the outcome of the transition process and any changes in his circumstances. It's advisable to seek guidance from a welfare advisor or the Department for Work and Pensions for specific information tailored to your situation.
The DWP would be the last place I would advise anyone to go to for benefits advice. DWP administer benefits, they are definitely not benefits advisors. They often don't even know their own rules.0
