An evening exploring our Daily Disgusts and the taboos around our bodies

Are you ready to get comfortable with being a bit uncomfortable?

This event will bring Talking Taboos’s signature practical frankness to a deep dive into why and how we experience daily disgust at our own bodies, and how this has led to serious health and social issues.

Our panel will dive into the details of the things that give us the 'ick' about ourselves - the odours and sounds, the hairs and the marks, the blood and the discharge. Our panel comes at this topic from many different lived experiences, and we will discuss topics ranging from ridiculous personal hygiene advertising choices (featuring roses, daisies and coconuts, or carbon warpaint, oceans and suits), experiences of periods as a trans man, intersectional experiences of menstruation and much more. A full list of speakers and bios coming soon.

The panel will also open the floor to discuss questions you have always wanted to ask via our anonymous taboo questions box*

This is not your average event - it's a chance to engage with the things we usually shy away from, all the while in a safe, supported and open space. Come and join us!

*The chair will moderate questions to prevent any questions submitted from causing intentional or unintentional harm to panellists or audience members.

I'm super impressed to see this on the forum especially as posted by a guy!!

I also understand why you haven't attracted much interest here yet 😄 the event sounds like tremendous fun though.

I'm puzzled and slightly irritated by the sudden concern about the difficulties experienced by menopausal women at work when WOMEN BLEED FOR 40 YEARS before reaching the menopause. It is 'bloody' painful - disabling for some - on top of the ick!

Heck, I always imagined trans men didn't menstruate so I will look into that. Thanks again for DDDD 🧐
