Child tax credits to UC managed migration

hi everyone,
I’ve used this forum many times to find useful advice etc and everyone seems so caring and helpful, but I’ve never posted a question myself.
I apologise in advance if my post is long winded.
it’s not so much a question but more of a rant really, and would love to hear others opinions on this issue as I’m sure many of you have also experienced this.
I’m a single parent / carer of my soon to be 18 years old son who is in non advanced education.
my son has additional needs specifically autism & dyslexia. He struggled hugely at school due to none existent support for his learning needs. This meant he struggled to attain the relevant GCSEs needed to get onto his chooses career path colleges courses at Btec diploma level 3.
He is amazingly talented in art and design and was able to get onto Btec level 2 diploma in animation & illustration in September 23. However, to be able to progress to level 3 which is a two year non advanced course in this subject he has to get his maths or English gcse passes. He has been taking English and maths gcse along side his level two animation and has now started his maths amd English retake exams. He’s been having maths private tuition to help him and lots of extra english lessons too. We’re hoping and praying he gets the passes in these subjects that he needs & deserves so that he can progress at college
Due to his difficulties in these subjects this has meant that he’s pretty much behind a year with his education.
My issue is that if I wasn’t being migrated over to UC from child tax credits in July then I would still get the child tax credits for him until he finished his level 3 (two year course) as that would take us up to him being 20 years old. However now that I am being migrated over to uc I will only receive the child element until 31st august after his 19th birthday which is next year - so that’s only for the first year of his two year course. He wouldn’t be allowed to claim UC in his own right as he’d be a full time student.
I just can’t understand why they would make the rules for child element different for UC. It’s going to be so difficult to support him through his last year as he wouldn’t be entitled to a student loan as it’s non advanced education.
Thank you for reading & sorry for the long winded rant 🙏❤️
