Hi I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice, I am waiting for a pip descion. I waited 11 months for a assessment for my pip review wich I couldn't even complete over the phone due to Me being so anxious and overwhelmed. The assessor stopped the assessment after 10 mins and refused to take it any further. I was told they would then make a descion off paper based assessment wich my review forms were shambolic not filled in properly i had no help with them and also has covid at time, and given the fact I've waited a year a lot has changed I've had new diagnosis increased medication more therapy I'm much worse than I was, I'm feeling super stressed out, I have no idea what's going to come of it. I know I should be on the higher amount due to my conditions worsened, the only thing I've sent them with paper based evidence is a letter off my doctor explaining my circumstances increased mental health and mobility, how ot effects me day to day do you think this will be enough? And will they backdate me if my pip is increased? I'm reading a lot of difference things with back dated payments I did not get intouch with them whilst I was waiting for my review assessment as I was told not to as it might delay the review process, but my condition has worsened. Its been a year wich is absolutely ridiculous. Things have changed, I'm just really worried about the whole thing as I don't know of that one letter off my doctor is enough, ?this whole thing is really starting to wear me down. My pip review forms were outdated, not filled in properly, I don't know if me not being able to physically carry out my phone assessment was the best thing to happen or the worst. If anyone could give me some advice I'd appreciate it. It's been 3 weeks since I sent the doctors letter to them. I was category told that I would not be assessed over the phone again, so they are going to do all this over paper, and I'm worried sick

It would be impossible for anyone to predict anything at this stage. Though a worsening of condition doesn't automatically entitle you to a higher award. Whether that's possible will depend on how your conditions affect you.

Many people are successfully awarded and didn't send any evidence to support their claim so I don't think it's vital you send it but filling in the form with as much relevant information as possible will help when you send little or no extra evidence.

Review decisions are taking an extremely long time for the majority of people and some are still waiting more than a year after returning their form.

If the report can be written from the information they already have then they will do that and then return it to DWP. The assessors do not make decisions, only decision makers from DWP can do that.

If you're successfully awarded and it's a higher award they don't always backdate it to an earlier time, when it's a review started by DWP. We've had some members that have been owed money and some that haven't. It's a decision makers discretion whether they award from an earlier date, some do and others don't.

Once the report is returned a decision can take up to 12 weeks.

Thank you for your response I know that my worsening condition doesn't entile Me to a higher award, but I've been on the standard one and due to how my mobility has dramatically declined and my mental health issues are more severe, I do feel I should be awarded a higher rate and if it's still standard I will be appealing. I don't think it automatically entitles me. I don't feel I should of been put on standard in the first place and I had no idea you could even appeal for it at that time, I appreciate your information, I am super stressed out and this waiting game is absolutely destroying my mental health

And I've also waited over a year since since sending the forms back, for them to give me a assessment date, I did state that in my post, thank you

Hello @sookie83 and welcome to the community. 🙂

How long ago was your assessment (the one that they stopped after 10 minutes?) Have you had any update from them since?

I hope you're doing okay this morning, I know how difficult the waiting can be.

My mother has just rang capita and they still haven't completed the report assessment it's been 3 weeks and it's not even been sent to dwp yet is this normal? I'm seeing that they are supposed to send it 48 hours after assessment but mine was paper after phone assessment being stopped. I'm so confused
