Permitted work and criteria for determining whether a job is something the claimant used to do

Hi,

Would anyone please know if there's a decision-maker guide on the above please? When I got RSI/fibromyalgia, leading to my ESA claim, I was doing financial accounts data-entry and manipulation, and I'm a bit worried that decision-makers might think that any office work, or any work involving computers in any way, no matter what adjustments are available, can't be permitted for me. It would be great to know how the 'impermissible' category of work is worked-out for each claimant as that will help me plan what I should apply for.

Thanks, Jonathan

You are over thinking this for sure! There's no work you can or can't do for permitted work. You just need to make sure that the work you do doesn't contradict the reasons why you're claiming ESA. You must also make sure that it's less than 16 hours per week and you earn no more than £183.50/week. If you go over those then your ESA will end.

If you do start working you must tell ESA and fill out a PW1 form.
