Yes you can work, there's no rules against that and there's no maximum amount of hours you're allowed to work. You do need to be careful that the work you do doesn't contradict the reasons why you were found to have LCWRA. If they do then it could go against you at your next review.

LCWRA is part of UC, it's not a benefit on it own. You and a partner (if you claim with one) will have the work allowance, which means you can receive a certain amount of earnings each month before the 55% deductions apply. If you claim for help with the rent it will be £404/month, if you don't it will be £673/month. For every £1 of earnings received above that there will be a 55p deduction in your UC.

If you do start working you must report the changes and tell UC.

Same rules apply for PIP, if the work you do contradicts the reasons why you're claiming PIP then it could go against you at your next review.

Thanks poppy123456 for your reply, that’s great info as I’m new to UC as not long been changed over from tax credits & then got awarded LCWRA very quickly without any assessment due to being a cancer patient & having major surgery & chemotherapy, but I’m still young ( if 44 is young,ha) not sure how long I have left on this earth but sitting around doing not a lot all day is not good for me, ( to much time to think & dwell on things) even though it’s hard I feel like I should be doing more to provide for my wife & children as I was always the main provider for my family as my wife is the main carer for my oldest son, so not only would it give me time out of my own head but would also help with income for the family (as I never got life insurance or even thought about it untill getting cancer & of course now I can’t even get cover after being diagnosed) just feel a bit helpless & feel I should be doing more, obviously any work would be limited hours & couldn’t be physical but at least I’d feel like I was helping & have a purpose, but wouldn’t want to lose my benefits as I couldn’t work long enough hour to replace them, thanks again & wishing everyone well
