Hi, my name is mogmitchell!

hello all
I am helping a friend who has multiple sclerosis insure her mobility car. The insurances we have found are outrageously expensive so would like to know if anyone has found a reasonably priced one. Also, is it best to insure one or multiple drivers please.

I don't understand your question. When you have a mobility vehicle from Motability you do not need to get your own insurance. Insurance is included in the cost of the vehicle, which is taken from your mobility payment. The only thing you pay for is fuel.

hello poppy
Thank you for your response. The car was bought privately hence the need for insurance. She is talking of selling it due to cost of insurance which would be a shame as she obviously enjoys going out.
Is there a way to apply for a Motorbility vehicle you mentioned? She lives in a care home.Thank you.

Ah ok so it’s not a mobility car. To join the motability scheme you must be in receipt of either Enhanced mobility PIP/ADP or high rate care DLA. If claiming AA this has no mobility part so doesn’t qualify you.
You would exchange the mobility payment for a vehicle of your choice. Please see link.1 -
I will have a look. Thanks again poppy

Hi @mogmitchell, welcome to the community. I think there was a little miscommunication as hearing "mobililty vehicle" people immediately think of the motability scheme. Poppy has already linked the best place to find out about it. I hope your friend is eligible and you can sort out a car for them!
