PIP review, no form sent out, told to reapply
is this normal? my partner has claimed pip for 3 years, due to expire in July. He got a letter in March saying please call us if you want to continue claiming PIP which he did, after much messing round by PIP and being told they'd have a manager call him back- which they never did- he called again today to be told that he has to reapply and they will not, and have not sent out a review form.
Is this normal? They told him the case manager who he has advised to do this, that he has to make a new PIP claim. Just a bit confused as i've never heard of this before and can't understand why. Now he has to start again and it was extremely stressful last time and he feels like he doesn't have it in him to do this all again from scratch.
Thanks

I think it used to be the case that people who had won tribunals would not get reviewed, but instead have to make a new application next time. However, I thought that had stopped during the pandemic as I haven't seen it mentioned on here for a while. I was one of the people who won tribunal previously and then got review forms.
Having said that, the review forms weren't actually that much different to the originals. Still had to write about the same amount. So I'm not sure there's really much benefit to a review instead of a new claim anyway.

thanks, yes his was just before covid that he applied first time, he didn't win by a tribunal but an MR. i understand the review forms aren't terribly different but at least your money continues however his is going to end in July so he will be without money for however long it takes for the new PIP claim to be successful, and that once again may need to go to MR/tribunal :( now i have to encourage him and help him to do these forms all over again and it was very mentally taxing last time for him especially the prospect of having to go to MR/possibly tribunal.

You will probably get a better answer than mine later, but I remember reading somewhere that claims considered to be short term awards, would require reapplying rather than a review. Although I also remember that period being less than 3 years.
Found a reference to it here.

thanks. yes i don't think his was less than 3 years, i am sure it was 3, i myself was awarded 3 years and i got a review form sent out to me earlier this year as normal.

His should still continue to be paid until a decision is made on the review/new claim. However, it should be a review form he received, rather than having to fill out the PIP2 form again.

hey poppy, they said he needs to apply all ov er again and call up to have a new pip form sent out. i don't think they are going to continue to pay. they said it isnt a review it will be a brand new claim? :/

Yes, I understood that it's a whole new claim. This doesn't mean his PIP award will end. It will be extended until a new decision is made, if the decision hasn't been made by the time his award is due to end.

ah right i see! they never said that, hopefully that is the case then! its due to end mid july at some point so i highly doubt the new decision would be made as he hasn't even requested the new forms yet. its difficult to get him to make calls and speak to people about this stuff etc so things are often delayed due to this :/

Just to add further, the award could have been for a fixed term, which means no review and you would need to apply again.
When he received the letter in March asking him to reapply, did it give a date in which he would need to do that by?
