Weird things today that used to be normal

I saw a youngish man eating a packet of crisps today and it occurred to me that that's such a mundane common sight but then is it?? I haven't actually seen someone eating crisps for years πŸ˜† people seem to be more into health foods or some kind of expensive latte made with exotic milk from virgin mountain goats or something

Can anyone think of other things that used to be a really common sight but which would make you look twice if you witnessed it today?

Another one I guess is someone reading a newspaper

Phone booths for me perhaps? The BT ones. Barely see them nowadays! It's odd when you do see one.

Shopping bags! This may just be a trend among students, but i share a block with students and sometimes meet them in the outer hall with their arms full of fruit and veg. A reusable eco-bag I can understand but ????

Does anyone else remember lugging those old cameras around to capture family days out and special occasions? I spent countless hours hoping for perfect photos, waiting a fortnight for my developed pictures to be returned, and spending a fortune only to be disappointed when they turned out blurry or poorly lit. Now, with phone cameras, even I can take a decent picture.

I think all the old children's games that were played out in the street. Like curby, my favourite, hop scotch lighting a tin can on a string, garden hopping. None of those are done today

Throwing recyclables into a dustbin. It's really not that long we've had kerbside recycling bins, but I feel genuine shock when I see someone chuck a newspaper in a normal dustbin on an old TV program! πŸ˜…

Outside wire bin where you put a black refuse bag in side it.

The metal Bins for outside that had clasps at side to keep lid secure.

omg curby, I used to play that when I was a kid. That bring back memories such a fun game. its true though you don't really see many kids playing outside on the streets anymore but we always used to be outside playing with neighbours.

40 years ago, I used to have a SLR Canon T70 camera with all of the lenses (wide angle/telephoto/zoom etc) and with a flash sitting on top - the whole thing was massive - Yes I did take some good photos and have them in albums today - they are much better for reminiscing than using a screen to view JPG's on………

Because now people take photos so readily at zero cost, they are nothing special. When you had to pay, perhaps 50 pence per photo - you took your time and ensured that you had the right shot.

My parents had square flash bulbs on their camera, I think each one had 4 flashes on them and they turned around to the next one.

Had to wind the next film on after you took a photo.

That must have been the late 1960's early 1970's
