I was wondering if someone would be able to point me in the right direction I have had to make a mandatory reconsideration due to a fault from DWP and PIP I made a new claim on 30th March 2023 and received a text on the 8th of April 2024 saying I was awarded pip I phoned up and was told I was awarded enhanced rate for both daily living and mobility and a payment was processing I received my letter expelling the decision and a letter about payments 2 weeks after but no payment I called back up and was told it was a mistake and I was actually denied pip they made a second decision one week from them awarding me and scored 0 points I have sent in letters from doctors physiotherapists phycologists orthopaedic surgeons and a letter from a local help service SHARP and letters from people who care for me I was told this isn’t good enough and they cannot accept personal statements from peoples care givers.

Hi @adamnoe89. Sorry you haven't had a reply to your question. Have you managed to find anything out elsewhere? It all sounds very confusing for you.

I called PIP and got put onto the mandatory reconsideration line to be told to ring PIP back to be told no it’s them I need to speak to after getting tossed backwards and forward to what felt like a life time a nice woman actually helped me out and told me to call back Monday this week as my claim was being looked at that week I called back Monday to be told I could be waiting another 8 to 12 weeks for a reply not including deliver time of the letter my reconstruction was put in on April 12th on the phone and medical records and other supporting letters where sent on the 16th I called on the 19th of April and they received them I was told it would be around 8 weeks for a decision so far I’ve been waiting 13 weeks come Friday my claim went in on the 30th March 2023 so still no further forward over a year later

Waiting times for MR decisions have increased to up to 15 weeks, so you're still within that time frame. Hopefully you'll not be waiting too much longer.

Thanks you for the reply it’s a headache at the moment with the them I was told 4 weeks then 8 weeks then 15 weeks so I’ve contacted PIP today for a update and was told they are looking to make a decision by 2nd of September as they are back logged so it will be around the 20 week mark from me asking for a MR and 1 year 6 months from me calling to make a new claim I also asked on the phone about if I was awarded what would happen to payments from the date my claim was made I was told I would only be able to get 12 months back so this is another lie I was told and the 4th different answer had anyone had a poor experience with pip before all calls are monitored by family or friends between myself and PIP after I was called a lier and verbally abused down the phone in front of healthcare professional then laughter it due to making me cry

The advice regarding only being entitled to 12 months of money if awarded a higher award is not correct. If you're eventually awarded a higher award then the difference between your current award and new award will be paid from the date you rang to start your claim. It doesn't matter how long that decision takes, you will receive what is owed.

Please remember that when ringing any DWP department you're speaking to someone from a call centre. These people have very little benefits knowledge and are not benefits advisors, for this reason, very often their advice is completely wrong and this is no exception.

I contacted them last week and was told a decision would be made some time this week. I received a text this morning saying they are expected to look at my claim by the 11/07/24 18 days ago I get one saying the same every few weeks so I phoned round a hour ago and was told I’m lying and they have not sent me any messages and I’m looking at another 10 to 12 weeks for a decision taking it to around 25 week mark

Looking back at your screenshots for the text messages I see you requested the MR on 31st May so that’s about 9 weeks ago.

As I advised earlier in the thread it can take up to 15 weeks for the MR decision due to the backlogs increasing further.

You will be contacted once a decision is made. I have no idea why they keep sending you the same text.
