will he need to go through all the process of showing to them he is self employed (when he starts working again)? Like the mettings with them ect? Iknow I do overthink because it’s all new to us, glad there is people like you to help!

No, he will not. I had completely forgotten he was self employed. Once he reports being your carer and carers element is include then he will have to work requirements anyway.
This is why it's important that he does this ASAP. It's very straight forward and they will not ask him any other questions other than who he's caring for and does he care for you for at least 35 hours per week.

the thing is he doesn’t have job as of last week, but hoping to come back to work very soon, hopefully in less than a month. Should we put as he is not working & carers element or only carers element? They are not aware yet he has lost the job as self employed just yet.

sorry could you explain “have to work requirements anyway”? Should we tell them he lost the job & do carers element and when he starts working declare it & he would need to have meetings with them ect again once he starts working + care for me?

If he only finished work last week and it hasn't been the end of your assessment period since then, he will need to report any earnings and expenses for this assessment period.
He can tell them he's not currently working and then report starting again once he starts back.
No work requirements means as a carer he will not be forced to look for work or work but he can if he wants to. As self employed the minimum income floor will not apply to him after the 12 month start up period. He will not need to attend any further appointments.

should we let them know that he lost his job for now as self employed or should we leave it as it is and just keep filling his earnings even if it will be £0 for let’s say a month ? Or should we let them know he doesn’t work now + fill the carer element bit? Sorry, I am very confused with all this.

They need to be made aware that he’s stopped working last week. As well as needing to report any other earnings and expenses he may have had since finishing work.
I advised earlier in the thread how to claim carers element. He will need to log into his journal and click “report a change of circumstances “ then look through the list and click caring for someone and report caring for you that way. It’s very simple and straight forward.

hello Poppy.
We will do this this evening and we let them know that aswell as looking after me he’s looking for a part time job that would suit him helping me and earn some money? Or should we just don’t say that at all.. i am a pain, i know :( sorry 😂

They don't need to know that he's looking for work because once he reports being your carer then he will not be forced to work. If he starts work in the future then he will need to report the changes and tell them. You really are overthinking this a lot.

so we just do the carer element and write in the journal that he is not working as of this Monday, correct? (Sorry, made a mistake before he was still working few days last week.

sorry, we stuck on the question where it asks the date of it? Can we write it backdated when i started to receive pip or only as of today?

You need to be clear when he actually finished work. As it was only recent I will assume there's earnings and expenses to report at the end of your next assessment period. Therefore changes should be reported after those have been reported.
For carers element, you can put an earlier date and it will be down to a decision maker to decide whether to award it from that earlier date. It may take a few weeks for a decision to be made on that.

ok, we will write in the journal that he still had earnings to report, but not working at the moment. We will do element backdated if they ask we will just tell the truth that we didn’t know about it….Thank you

hello Poppy.
We done the carers element yesterday, just waiting for their reply. As he worked in June and July do we need to notify them now that he dont have any job or just leave it for now? As in June he worked normally which we will declare in the end of this month. And in July he worked to weeks which we will declare in August. Thank you

When self employed its earnings and expenses that need to be reported on the last day of each assessment period. What date do you usually receive your money each month from UC?
0 -
we receive it on the 4th and need to declare his earnings on 28th
0 -
Thanks. So for this month he needs to report earnings and expenses between 29th June and 28th July.
For next month it will be earnings and expenses between 29th July and 28th August.
It’s not the working hours that count. It’s earnings received, as well as expenses paid out when self employed.

Thank you. Do we need to tell them now about him not having work at the moment or after we fill in his earnings?

Leave it until he has no earnings to report.
