Assassination attempt

Did anyone see this??

A 20 year old gunman Thomas Matthew Crooks fired several shots, one of which hit Donald Trump in the ear. 1 person was killed and 2 were badly injured by the shots

Crooks was shot and killed by a police sniper

I'm not a supporter at all but I always disagreed with how some Trump opponents try to silence him, because that is in itself a fascist tactic and I think the worry is that this kind of thing will only make him more popular as some kind of martyr

What do people think??

PS please try to keep it civil if you can, if you disagree with someone's view please don't attack them as a person

There have now been 4 chances to get rid of Trump each occasion failed to work out…..

June 16, 2016: Michael Steven Sandford, a British national, attempted to grab the gun of a police officer at a Trump rally in Las Vegas, Nevada. After his arrest, he stated that he had aimed to assassinate Donald Trump with the gun. He was sentenced to twelve months and one day in prison, but was released and deported to the United Kingdom after eleven months.

September 6, 2017: Gregory Lee Leingang, a 42-year-old man from North Dakota,
attempted to assassinate President Donald Trump in Mandan, North Dakota, while Trump was visiting the state to rally public support. Leingang stole a forklift from an oil refinery and drove toward the presidential motorcade.
After the forklift became jammed within the refinery, he fled on foot and was arrested by the pursuing police. While interviewed in detention, he admitted his intent to murder the president by flipping the presidential limousine with the stolen forklift, to the surprise of authorities, who suspected he was merely stealing the vehicle for personal use. The man pleaded guilty to the attempted attack, stealing the forklift, related charges and several other unrelated crimes on the same day. Consequently, he was sentenced to 20 years in prison. His defence attorney noted a "serious psychiatric crisis".

November 2017: A man affiliated with the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), whose name was not revealed, was arrested by the Philippine National Police in Rizal Park, Manila, for reportedly planning to assassinate Trump during the diplomatic ASEAN Summit.
In the week prior to the failed killing, the Secret Service already suspected a planned assault on the president because of the general presence of ISIL in the Philippines and because of threats by many people against the president on social media. Before the landing of Trump's aeroplane, the Secret Service discovered a credible terrorist threat from a man who threatened to kill the president on social media, quickly tracking down and arresting the terrorist. The government disclosed the incident to the public, after a year of silence, in a television documentary.

July 13, 2024: Thomas Matthew Crooks, a 20 year old man from Pennsylvania, fired shots at Donald Trump at a rally near Butler, Pennsylvania. Trump was bleeding from his right ear after the shooting. A rally attendee was killed, while two more were left in critical condition. Crooks was killed by Secret Service agents.

I'm not a fan of trump either but wouldn't wish death apon anyone. I don't believe in killing if anything I believe in democracy and if people want him as there president they will vote for him or out. No need in senseless killing.

Firstly, it is important to acknowledge that disagreement is a fundamental aspect of democracy. We live in a diverse society with a multitude of perspectives, and it's only natural that we will not always see eye to eye. However, disagreement should never translate into disrespect or violence.

Actions such as throwing drinks over MPs or attempting to shoot a political figure not only jeopardise the safety of the targeted individuals but can also harm innocent bystanders, as demonstrated in the Trump incident, where an innocent bystander was killed and two others were critically injured. Such actions ultimately undermine the democratic process itself.

I'm not a fan of usa politics but i really do think its bad, especially as it would of been high security. I know he wasnt seriously injured but at end of the day hes an elderly man.

not a fan of trump, but killing him isn't the answer and how did the secret service not see a gunman on the roof of a building is beyond me

Yes, 'left wing nutter' Biden, asked a republican to come up with a draft immigration bill, approved it depite being one of the most extreme pieces of legislation and MAGA representatives voted it down because Trump did not want a win for Biden.

Or do you mean the 'left wing nutters' who policies are driving one of the best economies that the 'sane right wing' objected to but then clambered to take the credit when their regions benefited from the policies they did not want?

If he had been killed, he would have become a martyr. To get someone to take a pot shot, not to kill, would put him top to be voted in again….

I'm sorry for the innocents that were killed or injured.

The news stories are nearly always awful stories I think I may give the news a miss for a while. America allows people to have guns . I bet the gun law won't change.

Hi @WelshBlue That remark is really funny! I had an uncle in California who was a top legal brain. One day he really wound me up by saying that everyday millions of Americans paid homage to the American Royal Family. I said rubbish and he replied "well, haven't you heard of Minney and Mickey Mouse"!
