Uc migration nightmare

I have to migrate to uc but I’m battling hurdles already.
I’m my sons appointee and my phone number and email is on his claim.
I’ve had to make a 2nd email for mine but they won’t accept my phone number as it’s attached to my sons account.
3 phone calls to uc to be told twice to add 11 zeros instead of my number- doesn’t work.
3rd call I’m told I need to use a family or friends number. Surely that can’t be the case as where does this leave my privacy and security?.
I’m so frustrated and just given up for the time being.

Does your phone have a dual SIM option? If so, you could get another SIM card with a different number to use for one of the claims.
Unfortunately I've struggled to find a proper pay & go tariff still available this year, almost all of them require monthly top ups now which would be expensive over a year.

no my phone doesn’t have a double sim option unfortunately. Every claim needs a valid phone number so they can send you a verification code to access your claim. It’s ridiculous and after scrolling through Google apparently this has been a long standing issue which they haven’t rectified 🙄
I’m going to drop my mp a letter to see if they can look into it.
Probably won’t get anywhere but it’s better to try than do nothing.

I had a similar issue. I don't use a mobile phone for anything other than wifi at home and my number had been cut off when I received the migration forms. (Didn't have any warning so I just assumed it was a local phone issue for the first few weeks!) I couldn't start the claim until the phone was working again. Was initially told I'd have to get another SIM but eventually got the old number reconnected on my original tariff.
Honestly, I don't think you'll get anywhere quickly with the MP, just have to try and find a way around it. If you can borrow an old phone from someone or buy a cheap used phone to put another SIM in that's probably the quickest option to get the claim started.

I’ve managed to sort the claim out by using my mums phone number. Anytime I have to log into my account I now have to borrow her phone.
I asked to be contacted by email but they still send the verification code to her number. It’s ridiculous but not a lot I can do.I have left a journal note stating why I used mums number and have given them mine to hopefully try and over ride the system.
Time will tell I guess but it’s such a stupid situation to be in.

That’s a very good point, my son does have an email but no phone.
Maybe that’s the route I’ll have to take.

just an update incase anyone ever finds themselves in a situation with phone issues /UC.
I telephoned Uc yesterday for a reason different from above but did mention my issues with my phone number attatched to my sons phone.
My number has now been registered to my claim aswell as my sons.
So long as you are an appointee for someone they will over ride the system to have 2 accounts to one phone number but it has to be done via a case manager.
They did ignore my journal message I posted mid July but the guy I spoke to yesterday in all fairness was decent.

Ah I'm glad to got to speak to someone who was a bit more helpful @Noidea19 😊
