Entitlement
So my partner is on PIP (enhanced rate for both care and mobility) and we have a joint claim on UC which we get help for housing costs, and she gets limited capability for work and reletted activity (i think its called). I also get an allowance for caring for her but wasn't entitled to carers allowance as i was a student. We also get child benefit for our 6 month old. I'm now finished my studies and due to start work in August. So I done the benefits calculator on entitledto from the gov website. And this is where my problem is... I filled in all the details about my earnings and when it says what we're entitled to it says we would still be entitled too 1100 pound on UC still including help for housing and then money for the little one on too. Surely this can't be right? I assumed that my earnings would stop all entitlement to help. Is this because my partner has limited capability for work?

Many people work while claiming UC, it's possible. You will have the work allowance, which means a certain amount of earnings each month will be ignored before the 55% deductions apply.
As you're claiming for help with the rent then your work allowance will be £404/month. For every £1/month of earnings received over the work allowance there's a 55p deduction in your UC.
As UC entitlement is based on earnings received, the more earnings the less UC you're entitled to, the less earnings the more you're entitled to.
