Employment post TBI
My partner suffered a traumatic brain injury a year ago. He currently has a senior role in the public sector. He has just left hospital
Does anyone know what the next steps for him would be in terms of making a decision if he is (ever) capable of returning to work? Will this involve OT? Dr? How long does this process take and when should it start?
He has still some way to go with issues around speech, memory and some cognitive functions (and with one outstanding head op to go). I imagine he will have to relearn about 80% but he learns fast. He tells me he will be able to get back to work and that specific role in time but he has some executive function issues and I wonder if he lacks insight / awareness.
He is adamant he wants to work as he still has some way to go to retirement. Ill health retirement could be an option but with so many years left until retirement I worry how this would affect his mental health
Any advice greatly appreciated.

Hi @arvia. Welcome to the community 😊
I'm so sorry for what happened to your partner. I'm glad that he's out of the hospital now. This isn't something that I know much about, but hopefully someone in the community will be able to help you. I would assume though that your first step would be to contact the Dr and they could go through what the steps are.

Hi @arvia. I'm sorry no one was able to help. How have you both been getting on?
