hello, just got my renewal letter and pip been stopped. Where it says how I made my decision it says information provided by the report from your hospital doctor - does anyone know if I can view this? If so do I need to ask pip or my hospital? Thank you

Hi @gardengnome. I've just found this https://www.scope.org.uk/advice-and-support/personal-independence-payment-pip#:~:text=A%20week%20after%20your%20assessment,a%20score%20for%20each%20activity. which says you can ask for a copy of your report a week after your assessment (scroll down to 'Ask for a copy of your PIP report').

I can access my medical record through the NHS app which shows some letters but I'm not sure if it would include a letter that had been written for PIP. If you can contact your hospital Dr I would do that. Then you're getting the answer from the source 😊

thank you :) I asked them to send copy of evidence used but they’ve only sent the health report nothing else, I will contact the hospital as I can’t see it on my nhs account, thank you again

    Hi

You can request a copy of the report from your .gp

This almost happened to me, luckily the GP sent me a copy of their report otherwise I would have been in big trouble. Basically the GP made a huge mistake because they hadn't updated my details on their computer system. When I alerted them they got straight onto the DWP and sorted it out the same day.

It says hospital doctor and consultant so I don’t think it’s my GP, and I can see my gp medical records / all letters etc but nothing showing

Meg, I think they have contacted my old urologist from Jan 2022. Since then I have been referred to gynaecologist as my symptoms have got worse and changed, but when I sent review back last year I was still waiting for gynaecology and I told them this on review with evidence of referral. (I’m now with gynaecologist) I stupidly added a letter from a urologist to show my diagnosis, but I have not seen her since January 2022 and she does not know anything about my pain now, I’m so upset and so angry with myself for sending her details. I will be ringing the hospital on Monday to ask for the report. Glad you got yours before they sent it off x

Forgot to say, make sure you fire off a written request for a mandatory reconsideration (write don't ring) then hopefully you can let the decision maker know that they have decided on out of date evidence. Hopefully when you point them to your gynae evidence they should reconsider in your favour. You have 30 days from the date of the letter to apply for an MR, what you can do over the phone is request a copy of the assessment report so you see why they have made their decision. Just don't mention MR when you ring.

thank you, I’ve started MR just getting more medical evidence. The diagnosis I was given by the doctor they contacted isn’t correct anymore either so hopefully that will go in my favour too. Thank you again

    PIP isn't about a diagnosis.

yes.. But as I said my symptoms have got worse and the diagnosis I was given by the doctor they have contacted isn’t correct and she doesn’t know my symptoms/pain so her comments are irrelevant.

yes but definitely relevant because the doctor is talking about a wrong diagnosis .. she doesn’t know what my pain is like now is my main point but thanks

Good luck getting it straightened out, hopefully once they realise the information is out of date then they'll resolve it.

When I did my review few years back I had to send information from my medical records, at which point I discovered that the GP had pending diagnosis on my record for Autism. My diagnosis happened in 2005, and they had the letter, just hadn't updated it.

There's a misconception that PIP assessors never contact medical contacts to verify your details. It does seem to be rare and definitely didn't happen for me in my original claim at any point. But it did happen for me in my review, even though my disability is technically non-medical. It shocked me how out of date my record was :/

I don't think the advice on here is that they "never" contact anyone. Usually I advise that they "rarely" contact them, although it does happen.

I did say it was a misconception, not that people here said it didn't happen :)
