Work related
Hi my name is Deb how is everyone today . Looking for little help ..
I ask work to shorten my hours to get Thursdays of am finding it hard to do four days now with my disability. But when I ask today my supervisor said she will put request in but they may want something back from me . As in change my hours now my hours are 5.30 am to 10.30 am . Had these hours about 7/8 years and I do them as my partner takes me to work then he goes to his works . As I don't drive and there's no buses for me to get at that time unless I walk some distance to catch one in town which will inpack me as walking that distance is a problem for me .. I send revised sick note in every month for x breaks and not to carry heavy things . I just need to request 3 day a week. Not to change my hours as if I did this I would have to stop working. I feel they are trying to blackmail me in we will give you your day but will have to start. Work at 7am till 12 . Which will not work for me . For other reasons.
(1): Can they do this( 2): this will be so much harder for me( 3). They have ask me would it not be better to go for retirement few times . (4) I think they would like me to leave but am not ready yet . Please can you advise Debra

Hi @Deb13, sorry to hear you're having some troubles at work. Have you had any contact with ACAS? They can sometimes help advise you on what your rights are, it might be worth getting in touch with them to see what they say.
One thing I will say is that if you're chatting to people at work about reasonable adjustments or changes to your working hours, it's best to get any communications down in writing just in case you need them later. It can help to have a record of what was said and when in case you need to bring it up later on. I'll pop the link to ACAS below 😊
Acas | Making working life better for everyone in Britain
Scope also have a page about reasonable adjustments that you might like to read through. If your work are aware that you're disabled, then you should be entitled to some reasonable adjustments to make things easier for you:
Reasonable adjustments at work | Disability charity Scope UK
Hope you can get things sorted soon, it must be stressful having to think about it all!

Rosie . Yes they done the adjustments . About 8 months ago . Just finding it hard on 4 days . They are trying for me to finish but not in so many words but it's there if I left they wouldn't replace me as took a girl on for my hours when I was of sick and now she full time so we over staffed. They thought I wouldn't come back but I did . . Am having a meeting this morning about the hours so will see what they will come up with . I will contact acac Thank you for replying and the information.
