LCWRA

HI. I have just migrated to UC and am wondering about the LCWRA. I currently claim PIP and work part time. I am only able to work part time, due to my health conditions. When I spoke to a guy from WTC on the phone, before the switch, he seemed to think i would be automatically eligible since I get PIP and you are able to work part time. However, whenever I look into it, I keep seeing about FIT notes. I do not have any FIT notes, as I am able to work part time. I have had time off due to my conditions, but generally I am able to work the hours I do, but certainly couldn’t work anymore without it severely impacting my conditions. Is anyone else in the same position and successfully applied for LCWRA please?

Claiming PIP doesn’t automatically entitle you to LCWRA unless you are state pension age or above.

Yes a fit note will be needed to start the work capability assessment (WCA) process off. You will then need to continue to provide them without any gaps until a decision is made on your WCA. A fit note is a statement of fitness to work, it doesn’t have to say you’re unable to work.

As you’re claiming PIP then you can be referred for a work capability assessment regardless of earnings. If you’re not currently entitled to the work allowance if you’re found to have either LCW or LCWRA then you’ll be entitled to the work allowance. This means a certain amount of earnings are disregarded before the deductions apply.

People do provide fit notes while working.

Thank you @poppy123456 that is so helpful. I didn’t realise I could get a FIT note, whilst working. I will go see my GP. I have a good relationship with her and she knows that I struggle to work the hours I do already x

You’re welcome. Once you have the fit note make sure that you report a change of circumstances first, then click health conditions, report your health conditions through there. Then provide the fit note. It will ask you for details of the fit note. Keep hold of that just incase they ask to see it.
