Hi all, my name is Anna Freed. I am a Masters Student at the University of East Anglia, studying the Arts of Africa, Oceania, and the Americas. For my dissertation I am looking for participants who self-identify as disabled to discuss some case studies of disability in archaeology – what you find most interesting, and how you think they should be presented to the public.

If you’re interested in disability history, and want to learn a bit more about South American archaeology, get in touch!

See the poster (and/or image description) for more information, and you can email me at a.freed@uea.ac.uk if you have any questions or are interested in taking part! Thank you for reading 😊

NB: The region was chosen because of the nature of my course, I recognise that in these cases Indigenous peoples’ views are most important, and that major limitation will be made clear regarding contributions by non-Indigenous participants. My goal is to encourage archaeologists working in any region to consult disabled people, and that should absolutely include Indigenous disabled people when applicable.

Do you identify as Disabled? (or d/Deaf, neurodivergent, chronically ill etc.) Interested in the history of disability in the ancient past? Take part in a virtual interview/focus group (depending on participant numbers) exploring disabled people’s opinion on discussions of disability in archaeology! To find out more email: a.freed@uea.ac.uk Project Title: Beginning to Co-Create an Archaeology of Disability (provisional) Led by: Anna Freed Type: Masters Dissertation Ethics Approval: University of East Anglia HUM S-REC (Arts and Humanities Research Ethics Committee) App. No. ETH2324-2662

Not sure if the alt-text function has truncated the description so I will reproduce it here:
