Applied for new style ESA

Hello everyone,
I applied for new style Esa on the 15th July, end of application process on line states I will be contacted before the 29th July but not sure if it takes longer ?
We get UC as a couple, Transistional protection, my wife gets the carers element and I get Lcwra, my wife works 12 hours per week, and i currently get ssp until i reach week 28 which is around the end of September.
I won't be returning to my job after the 28 weeks so i will have some holiday pay owing to me once my P45 is handed in. If I am awarded Esa how would my holiday pay affectt anything ?
Will it be classed as earned income ?
I calculate im owed approx £650 to £700
Thanks for any advice.

Holiday pay will have no affect on New style ESA because you're not actually working. It will affect your UC in the assessment period in which you receive it and will be treated as earnings.

Thanks as always Poppy,
Do you have any idea how long new style Esa claims are taking ?
There isn't any rush as ssp has some weeks to go anyway.
Thanks

You're welcome. It can take a few weeks, sometimes longer. However, for you then you may not hear from them until nearer the time that your SSP ends. Once it's ended there's also a 7 day waiting period for the ESA payments to start so you have plenty of time yet.

Thanks poppy,
I won't panic then if I don't hear anything soon now I know it can take a few weeks.
As i mention last time they did ask for a fit note after my application but you did say thats a standard reply and i dont need to send one as I get Lcwra.
Take care poppy

Hi Poppy123456,
Hope you are keeping well.
With regards to my new esa claim I did on line on the 15th July , I received the confirmation text stating they had received my ESA application and they would contact me within 14 days but havent heard anything at all from DWP. They did request i send in my fit note but you did say to me on a previous thread I didn't need to send in that fit note as I receive LCWRA I just need the form ssp1 from my employer nearer the time when ssp will end.
My current long term ssp will reach week 28 in the first week of October and will then end. How long should I wait if I don't hear from DWP about my ESA claim as I don't want to risk being without money when ssp ends and the ESA hasn't been sorted.
Thanks

Morning berry, I'm not too bad, thank you for asking. I hope you're ok too.
It's most likely because your SSP doesn't end until October. The text you received was highly likely to be a standard text.
You won't be without money because you're already claiming Universal Credit. You will not be financially better off by claiming ESA because it's just deducted from any UC entitlement.
If you haven't heard anything else closer to the time your SSP ends then ring ESA.

HI Poppy,
Hope you are keeping well.
I just thought I would update the previous thread about applying for new style ESA.
I hadn't heard from DWP since I applied on line, so I contacted them as you suggested closer to the time of my ssp ending. The person said my application will be processes on the 20th September but did say I had to send in my current fit note that ends on the 9th Sept which I have done. I'm going to contact my employer on the 20th Sept for my ssp1 form that I also need to send in ,I calculate thet my ssp week 28 should be 28th September, I will also put a note on my UC journal on the 20th Sept to inform them I have applied for esa as you said I would need to.
Take care and thanks for the advice
