Award review
Just a quick question about the award review.
My award was for 3 years, and will end in April 2025. I've read online that they will review about 12 months before the award is due to end, but I've not received anything or heard anything.
What is the actual time it is taking for them to get around to award reviews?
Thanks 🙂

If it helps, I posted my own review timeline recently - but keep in mind that times vary (and I think what region you are in has a big impact on this, different areas have longer/shorter wait times for various aspects). But at least it might give you a ballpark!
I'll link the full post below but the basic summary/timeline was;
- PIP previous award due to run out start of 2023.
- PIP was auto-extended from start of 2023 to start of 2024.
- PIP review forms sent May 2023.
- PIP review forms returned June 2023.
- PIP auto-extended a 2nd time from start of 2024 to start of 2025.
- PIP independent assessment given my details May 2024.
- Phone review due end of July 2024, changed to early 10th July 2024 when asked for it to be recorded.
- Phone review was around 40 minutes, DWP recieved report approx. 20 minutes after the phone review.
- Got a copy of my report a few days after asking for it - asked for it on 12th July, 2 days after my phone review took place/after DWP received the report themselves.
- 26th July (16 days after DWP received report) got a text to say await my decision letter.
- 31st July (21 days after DWP received report) got letter with standard daily living (no change) and enhanced mobility (increase from standard).

Reviews are currently starting about 8 months before your award is due to end so you should expect your form anytime from end of August. They sometimes send a text message when your review has started to tell you that you should receive the form in the next couple of weeks.

Do you get your initial award for the original time period even if you start the review process?

Yes, your award continues until a decision is made even if you report changes to your health conditions.
