Benefits calculator. 'Do any other adults live in your home?'
Hi. I'm using the turn2us benefits calculator. I'm a bit confused at the question 'Do any other adults live in your home?'
I would be living in a shared house with other strangers, but I'm the only person living in my room. So, do they mean with me in my room or the rest of the house?
The way I answer this question affects massively the outcome.
If I say no, I'm entitled to about £ 1300, for a room in London that costs £1000
If I say yes, it gives me max 4 people to select, and I have to specify if they are joint tenant (can you please explain?) and if they get benefits (I don't think they would tell me) and in the end I'm entitled to a little more than £1000, which barely allows me to cover the rent.
I would really appreciate your help.

For benefits purposes it will be anyone in your room, such as a partner or children. If you're a single person under the age of 35 then you'll be entitled to the shared rate of local housing allowance, unless you're claiming daily living PIP and then it will be 1 bedroom rate.
If you're 35 or over then it's 1 bedroom rate.
If course you can't claim for more than what your rent liability is.
