If you're claiming UC as a couple then the money you receive from that will be for both of you, not just for yourself.

If your partner claims carers allowance for looking after you then it would just be deducted in full from any UC entitlement so there's no financial gain to claiming it at the same time. There are some advantages to claiming it such as for carers allowance they would receive class 1 NI credits but for UC it's just class 3.

If they are working and earning more than £151/week they will not be able to claim carers allowance.

They can claim carers element of UC and your maximum UC entitlement will increase by £198.31/month. There's no earnings limit to this like there is with Carers allowance.

To claim it they will need to log into their journal and report a change of circumstances. Then click caring for someone and report it this way.

Is that because of their visa status so they have No Recourse to Public Funds? (NRPF) If so then they will not be able to claim carers allowance. Carers Allowance is a public fund.

This also applies to carers element and they will not be able to claim this either if they have NRPF.

Congrats on getting a PIP award! It is quite the process 🎉

You mention your partner isn't eligible for benefits, is this because they are on a visa with No Recourse to Public Funds as Poppy mentions? As you may not be able to get Carers Allowance then. You can check up what counts as Public Funds here.

You could check a benefits calculator to see if there are any other benefits you are eligible for: Turn2us Benefits Calculator
