"Specialist Team" Deciding New PIP Claim

Hi, everyone first time poster, long time lurker.

Interesting topic to discuss today, sorry for the long ish post.

Basically was on PIP from 2021, passed assessment awarded for 2 years, and renewal in January 2024 passed assessment again awarded for 2 years again...fast forward to March 2024, put in Change Of Circumstances due to conditions getting alot worse, whilst waiting for this to be processed I recieved a letter in May, to say my PIP claim was stopped and retrospectively withdrawn (they had withdrawn my entitlement from the date of original claim in 2021 prompting letter I owe them 11,000) taking this to MR. In the meantime I did a new claim as my CoC wasn't acknowledged, passed assement and have enough points for Enhanced on Both. Called them to chase it up and was accidentally informed by a somewhat over helpful call handler that my claim "is with a specialist team due to you having a previous disallowed claim".

My question is this, has anyone had this happen before? Have they had a specialist team looking at their claim due to previous disallowance? I was under the assumption that new claims are separate from previous claims, why are a "specialist team" looking at my new claim, I have provided tons of evidence and they have my medical records confirming everything I have previously said, has anyone been in the situation? If so what happened?

This, isn't something I've heard before. I can't say I've heard of such a thing, though your case does seem like something that would need a specialist team given how much bother they've given you!

Let us know how you get on with it.

Have you considered contacting your MP about this at all? MPs can often bother the DWP and get them moving.

Thanks for the response, yes I have considered my MP and am also considering contacting the Independang Case Examiner aswel as i feel they are finding a way to railroad me. Thanks for the support, I'll definitely keep everyone updated!
