Motability Foundation

Hello Everyone
I would like to find out how people have been finding the experience with Motability Foundation (grants team)?
I have had an awful personal experience and wondering how many of us are out there who feel like the team have not listened to their concerns and feel treated unfairly?
I am in the process of gathering information right now, just to see how many people are really finding it difficult to deal with them. My issue personally is how they like to impose vehicles which may be unsuitable for your needs without taking your personal health and safety into question. They also don't seem to care about financial circumstances of applicants and overlook those who are in desperate need for support.
I am hoping to shed some light on this as they are working with the most vulnerable people but empathy and care are non existent. I am worried they are mistreating many people and no one is really shedding light on it.

Morning @longaz and welcome to the community.
I'm sorry you're having issues with the Motability Foundation. Have you raised a complaint with them directly? They should have their customer's needs at the forefront of any decisions they make so it's saddening to hear that you haven't experienced this.

I had a similar experience. They ignored my needs and wouldn’t listen, even with clear evidence. Once they decide which vehicles they’ll support, any challenge is met with hostility. For a charity serving disabled people, refusing reasonable adjustments is unacceptable and amounts to indirect discrimination.

I raised a complaint and escalated it. I even contacted the CEO and he blocked me. They are making a lot of profits year on year but do not wish to help anyone. I am reporting them to the charity commission.

I had a very poor experience with the motability foundation grants team. They rejected my application due to costs, I asked for a review, and I was then awarded a grant, five vehicles listed on my award letter, which was fine, I also received a grant for a hoist to be fitted in the boot of listed vehicles to help with putting my wheelchair in and out of the listed vehicles, only issue, the vehicles list do not have the room for the installation of a hoist. My impression is that the case managers do not have the experience or the knowledge to deal with complex disabilities or health issues. The lack of “common sense “ approach is very evident, to many guidelines that they apply to decision making, disability cannot be ruled by guidelines. The whole grants decision making process should be reviewed by people who are disabled, not someone with a University degree, with very limited knowledge of the real world.
