Telephone appointments
Hi is it possible to have the first appointment switched to a telephone appointment due to health issues? Partner has a 3 month sick note held in but when he’s went into the job center to verify id shes said that it can’t be changed to a telephone app because hes managed to go in to have the id checked but there was no other way around it. It says on the to do list Prepare for and attend your First Commitments appointment in a jobcentre. Thanks

Your partner will need to put a message onto their journal and ask for a reasonable adjustment for a telephone appointment.
The first appointment for the ID could have also been done through telephone call.

hi thank you I had no idea it could be done over the phone this has been one thing after another he was showing as verified then 10 days later they’ve left a journal message saying he needs to attend a face to face meeting he is currently waiting to be tested for narcolepsy amongst a lot of other health issues but right now he can’t be going on any public transport alone it’s a big safety issue that he would need someone with him and I’m a full time carer for my son so can’t always be available to accompany him. I was hoping they would understand that in person but they weren’t interested really. Hoping they will be able to give some leeway with this one. X

As Poppy says @stepheny12, you can request on your journal for a reasonable adjustment to have telephone appointments. If he's suspected of having narcolepsy it's definitely a reasonable adjustment to have a telephone appointment instead of a face to face appointment.
I would not budge on this, as you say it's a big safety issue for him and this is clearly within reasonable adjustments for Universal Credit.
Do let us know if anything else happens, and I hope those tests provide you and your partner some answers soon.
