h,

what are people predicting will happen regarding PIP and the potential reforms? Do people expect there to be significant changes to PIP? It’s very stressful waiting.

Personally, I don't like to make predictions on these things. It can be stressful waiting, no doubt about it, however, my preferred approach is to deal with anything that happens when it actually happens.

If you think about, life is a big bucket of variables and unknowns.

For example, many times when I was in work there were "changes" on the horizon in the organisations I worked for - sometimes they led to redundancies, sometimes promotions, sometimes changes in roles, sometimes no real change at all.

These imponderables are a thread of life; and life is inherently and pervasively unpredictable.

I don't think there'll be any changes to benefits, as their would be too much backlash amongst the disabled community. Any changes to PIP would cost too much to implement.

That being said, that doesn't mean do nothing. If you are concerned, contact your MP and tell them how you feel and how these proposals have affected your wellbeing.

Worrying until October will make yoi extremely unwell and won't change anything.

It's hard I know but it doesn't deserve to steal your health and peace of mind further.

Any major changes to PIP will take an extremely long time following a process through both parliament houses.

Just going to start with a link to some tips and advice from the charity MIND about dealing with worrying and anxiety inducing news

Coping with distressing events in the news - Mind

I agree with others that fretting over this when we have no details is just putting yourself into a worse place. I recognise that it's easier said than done, but perhaps the above resource might be able to help with it?

I don't like making guesses on the future of what will happen, but I do know that many of these benefits are laid out in legislation. That means major changes to them in turn requires legislation and going through the House of Commons and House of Lords. This will be a long process, with lots of time for debate, discussion, feedback and pushback.

Bobroy, I find these things very stressful too, so sympathise.

Thanks to everybody posting tips on anxiety-management, that’s helpful.
