Change in circumstances - improvement but still being paid

Hi everyone

I called PIP in April to report an improvement in my condition which I know will stop me from being eligible for PIP.

However, I've still been paid PIP since and received no text or letter about a review. I've read that they can ask for repayment of any overpaid PIP if you do not report the change in circumstances early enough.

However, in my situation I have, it just seems to be their system lagging behind so will I be entitled to pay back the PIP if they find that I am no longer eligible once they finally get around to contacting me? I'm on a 3 year fixed term with a review due from Jan 2025 according to my award letter.

Many thanks for your help.

Heya @JodJod and welcome to the community.

It's good to hear your condition is improving. 😊
I would suggest the best course of action here would be calling the DWP to ask for an update, just to be on the safe side.

My suggestion to you, would be save the money that you receive and do not spend it.

Do you have any evidence that says that you contacted them and reported a change of circumstance? You really need to make sure that you record every call if you can, or if you have done it via paper work, at least kept a photo copy of your form.

You also need to try and keep a journal of when you have contacted them so 04th July 1980 phoned to report changes in circumstances.

If you save the money that they are giving you, in a safe place such as a saving account, if they turn around and say that you have been over paid, you can advise them that you contacted them, but heard nothing back. However, I would suggest that you contact them again, if it has been a month or so, and try to record the phone call if you can.

If they do say that you have been overpaid at least you can pay them the money straight away, if it is their mistake, they will still expect you to pay it back, so expect them to do that at some point, but as I say, keep the money in a safe place, such as a savings account which is not connected to your main bank account, where you would use that for shopping and direct debits.

Just keep in your head, that it is money that you cannot spend.

    Hope this helps
