LCWRA Payment
Good afternoon everyone!
How long does it take for DWP to pay backdated LCWRA money?
I've completed the 3 month wait time and have been awarded LCWRA from 21 July 2024, I'm not getting a reply via my journal, other than "the £416 will show on your September statement"
Thank you!

HI @ApocalypseRogue congratulations on the LCWRA award, that must be a huge relief? I belive the LCWRA component will be paid in along with your standard UC payment.

Hello, yes it certainly is a relief! Although only after I requested a MR due to nobody asking for any of my medical evidence and a brief phone call WCA.
Does the DWP pay the backdated money in the next UC period?

The extra money is paid from the 4th month after you provided your first fit note, with first payment being the end of that month. It’s not paid at all during the waiting period.
What date exactly did you provide your first fit note and what date do you usually receive your money each month?

Hi Poppy, yes I understand the wait time😊
My fit note was 21st April, my LCWRA award is from July 21st, my usual UC payment dates are 27th of each month.....

Thank you. That means your waiting period is April to July.. LCWRA element starts from 21st July to 20th August and first payment should have been 27th August. No LCWRA element is owed.
Did you receive this element on your statement this month? This is assuming there were no gaps in your fit notes until a decision was made.

Great, thank you! No, I didn't receive it in this month's payment. It was awarded to me on 22nd August after a MR I was told by the Decision Maker that any payment 'owed' would take 3-5 days to process and she had informed my Case Manager of her decision. Maybe the bank holiday has delayed things (?)

Edit
No gaps in fit note.

That explains why you haven’t received it because the MR decision was made too late for the element to be included in this months statement.
They will recalculate it and anything owed will be paid to you.
As you transferred from Tax credits does your UC include any Transitional Protection?

Thank you for your help, it's helped clear my mind.
No, we didn't have TP

You’re welcome. Thats good you didn’t have TP and means your maximum UC entitlement will increase by £416.19/month.

Yes it was a tough call and a rough 5 weeks but we wanted to be free and clear going forward.
Another query, if you'd indulge me, my Wife works PT (30hrs) and receives the carers element, would we still get that?
0 -
Carers element has no earnings limit like carers allowance so yes she can continue to work. Carers element and LCWRA element can be paid together in your case because it's your wife that receives the carers and you the LCWRA element. Hope this helps.
