Afternoon all. Bit dreary here in NE England and listening to some music. Got me wondering what was the first record you purchased. Careful guys, this could reveal your age. I'd love to sound cool and say Pink Floyd but mine was Under the moon of.love by Shawaddywaddy🤣. What was yours. Be truthful.

I think, happily dating myself, not absolutely sure, but I think it was Cilla Black, Anyone Who Had a Heart. No. 1 in 1964.

Little bit before my time but that is some song and her performance of it is so powerful. I actually prefer her version to Dionne Warwick

Mine was an album, Electric Warrior, T Rex in 1971, and I still play it. I can't remember my 1st single but probably by David Bowie or Alice Cooper…

Great question! Mine was a cassette of Spice Girls - Wannabe. I remember it having a cardboard sleeve and I played it over and over on my grandma's tape player!

One of elder brothers was Mark Bolan fan and another was a big fan of Alce Cooper. Grew with Billion Dollar Baby. Really cool choices

Hi Rachel. Oh my word. Cassettes. So many hours spent trying to put the tape back in using a pencil. I bet you also taped the top 20.on a Sunday night

I certainly did @Chris321! I would dance around my mums bedroom then quickly press pause when the DJ started talking 😂 I hosted a 90s party a while ago and one of the games was to wind the tape back in the fastest. It was so fun!

Witches promise by Jethro Tull single in 1968 at the age of 10. I’ve been a Jethro Tull fan ever since.

Billion Dollar Babies.. now that was an album, not quite as good as Love It To Death though. As for Marc Bolan, I wore the black arm band for a week, thought it was the day the music died…… until Freddie ..😔

I think my first LP was The Beatles, A Hard Day's Night. I did have cassettes, Jesus Christ Superstar, The Best of Queen, Physical Graffiti (Led Zep), Abraxas (Santana), at least one Floyd album. Can't remember when my listening migrated to YouTube.

Buying a Beatles album as your first is so cool

I'm wracking my brain and I genuinely don't remember the first music track I bought. I know it was almost certainly a CD though!

Mine was either Aqua - Aquarium on casette, or Spice Girls - Spice on CD. I think Spice Girls might have been the first one I actually bought myself. Good ol' Woolworths 😁

Mine was 'First Time' by Robin Beck, 7" vinyl, the song from the Coca-Cola advert 😄

@Jodie_Scope Had to look that one up. It's so 80's Reminds me of all those 80's power ballads

@Chris321 I've just put it on to listen to because I haven't heard it in years and you are so right, I actually didn't remember how 'power ballad' it was. 😂 It sounds very dated but I still love it.

Thanks for the suggestion of remembering our first record, and bringing back the nostalgia to this horrible rainy day in Wales! 😊

One of my first ones was 'the lightning tree'. Theme tune to a popular kids programme, ' Follyfoot '. Can't remember a deal about it now but it was about horses.
