Can't get faulty NHS powerchair fixed
For the second time this year - my Salsa Mini 2 Electric wheelchair needs a service
I have only had the chair for 6 months and use it mainly in the house (my mobility is now virtually zero) and also I use it for the local shop.
I had a new battery fitted 3 months ago - it wouldn't charge
Now - There is a fault shown on the display - the seat riser is shown flashing every 5 seconds - but the seat is fully down.
This is not shown in the instructions - since the seat lift is optional.
I emailed the NHS section who supplied it, on Monday, and not received a response. I have also copied the department head who is apparently on holiday for 2 weeks.
What do I do ?
Do I hope that the chair doesn't break down - leaving me totally up the creek or do I keep on trying to get a response from someone ?
I may "reject" the chair and get a NHS personal budget for my own purchase - how long does that take - how much and is it easy ?
