Advice with child minding a 9 yr old.

hi all just after some advice please. I’ve been looking after a friends daughter for 3 days a week 3.15-5.30 sometimes I take her to her house and sometimes she comes to mine. Her mum gives me £30 a week to cover the 3 days (3.15-5.30) I don’t drive so have to take her on bus home and get her dinner sorted so the £30 a week mainly pays for her bus fare and dinners. I’m getting mixed things of ofsted as apparently I don’t need to register, but then I read somewhere if you are being paid you have to, but it’s not really a payment for me if it’s going on her daughter. Am I breaking the law. Thanks for your help

You are not breaking the law, this sounds like an informal arrangement with a friend and you are not being paid, just receiving expenses to cover costs

This is, as judie says, an informal arrangement. If you were setting yourself up as a professional childminder, advertising your services etc. then you would need all the relevant qualifications, insurance and more.
