Good afternoon I have read through quite a few threads on the above topic but not seen one with our circumstances so wondering what to expect to happen regarding payment and difference in rates when we migrate will we be covered by TP?

My wife is 62 is CB ESA support group pip standard daily enhanced mobility, she gets these paid separately from the main claim below, will hers carry on like that?

I am 55 CB and IR ESA support group CP and couples SDP was tagged to mine, pip enhanced both
Appreciate any response

I am in the process of having to move over from esa to uc. I receive pip and the pip payments are separate. I am/was in the esa support group and was told the uc will guarantee to match the esa payments for a year only, then will be reviewed.

The advice you've had for the 1 year is not correct. Transitional Protection lasts for as long as it lasts. This could be a month, or years and it will depend on each individual circumstances.

The 1 year only applies to those that are migrating from Tax credits and have capital/savings of more than £16,000.

As you're both claiming CB ESA they will both continue but be deducted in full from any UC entitlement.

Both of your CB ESA's will revert to New style but this will be done automatically and you will just need to agree to your commitments.

Your Income Related ESA will continue for 2 weeks and then stop. Same applies to housing benefit, if you're claiming this.

Although you're both in the Support Group you will only be entitled to the LCWRA element in your UC claim this is because it can only be paid to one person.

You will also be entitled to Transitional Protection due to the SDP.

Ok, we receive tax credits as well but don’t have savings of more than £16,000z

Then the 1 year doesn't apply. Transitional Protection lasts for as long as it lasts. If entitled to this it will erode if other elements increase or you become entitled to other elements until eventually it erodes completely.

thanks, got my commitment phone interview this afternoon. My wife doesn’t have to do one because she is my carer. It makes little sense.

    Thank you poppy

I’m trying to understand how this will change, so will we get paid together now under the umbrella of UC instead of my wife receiving her esa payment separately or will she carry on receiving her own payment ?

Your wife will carry in getting CB ESA every fortnight, as a contribution based benefit it doesn't fall under the UC umbrella.

As your ESA is also part CB then yours will also continue but at a lower rate of £138.20/week and it will continue to be paid fortnightly.
