You don't automatically receive the advance payment. You need to apply for it first and you will be able to do that after your identity has been verified or during your first appointment.

thanks how long does it take to get the interview . I am trying to prepare myself because I will still have direct debits coming out and won’t have any money for them to go .
Thanks kim

Within a week usually, sometimes longer. I see you're transferring from Income Related ESA so that will continue for 2 weeks once your UC claim is submitted. Same applies to Housing benefit if you're claiming that.

thank you for the advice I am finding all this stressful also recived husbands pip renewal that has to be back for the 15th October.
My husband said if he loses the car then he might as well kill himself because he will never be able to go out . It’s a lot all this stuff coming at once .

hi all filled the details in this morning and confirmed id . It asked about health conditions and I put my husbands in but there was no questions about what he receives now . He’s on esa and some questions where work related . Where mine as a carer did ask .
Will they already know about my husbands esa and add it
thanksKim

Your husband will need to put a message onto his journal to tell them he's in the Support Group. They will very likely ask him to provide a fit note as part of the claims process but this isn't needed and he'll need to tell them if they ask him.
It will take a few weeks for ESA to send his details across to UC. Once this is done your claim will be updated and he'll need to agree to his commitments, which is just to agree to report all changes.

hi sorry for the late reply I have left a message on the journal part and this morning have got an email saying my husbands has an appointment at the job centre . Is that normal if he’s on ESA .
thanksKim

Yes it’s normal for a first time claim. If he’s unable to attend due to his health conditions then he can ask for a telephone appointment as a reasonable adjustment.

hi it’s says a first commitment appointment I have already completed the id online .

hi another question I read that being on esa before claiming that I would receive a payment as normal after I have made the uc claim . Just wondering when that will be .
thanks kim0 -
Yes, Income Related ESA and housing benefit (if you were claiming that) will continue for 2 weeks after you submitted your claim for UC. I'm afraid I can't tell you when exactly you will receive payment but it should be around 2 weeks after you received your last ESA payment.

hi it’s usually today I would receive the esa but not got any .
Could it come this week or next
kim0 -
Best thing to do is ring ESA and ask them.

just checked again now and it’s gone in but coming up as jsa instead of esa.
Thanks
Kim

Glad to hear that. The JSA next to it just means it was paid as a manual payment instead.

thanks started to worry abit then . My husband has his telephone appointment this morning and I received a letter yesterday from child tax credits saying I owe them £57 . I don’t know if they will take it out of the uc or if they will send me a bill . Suppose I will find out soon .
thanks kim0 -
This would typically be sent to DWP Debt Management and they set up a system to take repayments from your future Universal Credit payments in small instalments.

that’s not bad then won’t get a surprise bill . Appointments done they said they would switch requirements off and made another appointment for early November but said chance are everything will be done by then and won’t need the appointment. Just have to wait another 3 weeks to be paid now.
Also returned the pip renewal yesterday was told to send it 1st classed signed for so hopefully hear back from them soon

For your PIP review please be aware that there's extremely long delays for decisions on those and you could be waiting a year, potentially longer for a decision. Your current award will continue until a decision is made on your review.
I returned my form at the end of November last year and I'm still waiting for a decision.

that’s along time the last one I did took a week no assessment or phone just renewed it’s for 3 years . That was in may 2022 was hoping it would be the same just to get it over with.
