Hi,
If this is Income Based ESA, he will be migrated to Universal Credit.
If this is Contributions Based ESA he will not be migrated to UC.

thank you . How do you actually find that out , as it does seem to say on any of his. Letters

It should say on some of the letters although it's not always easy to pick out the relevant parts. If you look at the section that shows how ESA has been worked out, at the end it says something like "Your income related entitlement is…"
If it doesn't say Contributions Based anywhere on that letter, then it probably is all income based. It is possible to have both income based and contributions based ESA. In that case, only the income based part will get migrated to Universal Credit.
If you are still not sure, let us know the exact amounts that he gets paid and we should be able to work it out from that.

thanks do you know if they will be just transferred or need another assessment.

If he's in the Work Related Activity Group and he receives the extra money this means he must have claimed ESA before April 2017 so it will 100% be Income Related.
If it was contributions based then payments would have ended after 1 year.
This means he will be migrated to UC at some point.

he’s income based does that mean he will receive more than he is on at the moment which is £318 every 2 weeks ? This is all he receives

That amount is Support Group and not the Work Related Activity Group like you first suggested.
If he's 25 and over then yes the LCWRA element for UC will pay about £120/month than ESA Support Group.

this is a bit of a strange one just need some advise. My brother lives at home with my dad he’s income based esa . My dad wants to put my brothers name on the house that is solely in my dads name . Been told this won’t effect his benefits.. he won’t be receiving any money out of it everything stays the same can anyone help please?

thanks for replying . Poppy he’s on 318.00 every 2 weeks , and you said he will receive 120 per month.. sorry not understanding. That’s a massive drop. Is that all he will be getting when he moves over to u.c on esa at moment

Apologies, there was a typo in my comment above. What it should have read is LCWRA element for UC will pay £120/month MORE than ESA Support Group because he's 25 and over.

thanks for reply so do you actually know what he will be receiving fully a month ? It’s very confusing he’s getting in a right mess regarding all this

Currently UC LCWRA pays £809.64 per month.
That is for the standard element + LCWRA.
A month's worth of IR ESA works out at £689.21 (over 25, single)
To arrive at that figure you multiply the weekly amount by 52, then divide by 12.
Difference is + £120.43 as Poppy advised.
You could try putting his ESA details & circumstances into a benefits calculator.
Do make sure you are inputting the correct information, otherwise the result will be incorrect.
