UC migration supporting documents required

I'm getting ready for when I receive the ESA-UC migration letter. What supporting documents does the DWP require? Do I need to provide housing documents, or will they be transferred from ESA?

what information do they need? And how much did they

You will need ID such as passport, driving license, debit/credit card, bank details, phone number, email address, bank statements if you have savings/capital of more than £6,000.
For housing, if you rent privately then you will need proof of liability to pay rent, such as tenancy agreement, lodgers agreement. If you rent from social housing you don't need anything other than to provide your landlords details because UC will contact them directly.
There's lots more details here.

I’m not sure of all the documents you’ll require and depending on your circumstances when you complete the online application some people will not be called in for an interview at all. Online you’ll need 2 forms of identification. The main things that I have done in order to prepare for my sons migration is look online for exactly what he will be entitled to, including relevant legislation (so for example if you receive the SDP element look up what that means when you migrate). My son lives in exempt accommodation so I’m aware UC will not pay his housing benefit and it will remain with the council and if there is any misunderstanding by UC I have saved the information I found out about that so it’s to hand if I need it . He has both an SDP and EDP element and these will be covered by transitional protection. Also to note because he has the higher limited capability for work element on ESA he will be entitled immediately to LCWRA on universal credit (this is the paid element on UC for people who have limited capability for work ) and that he will not be subject to the 3 month waiting period that UC have in place for people making a normal claim, he will not have to submit fit notes, nor will he be subject to having to make a claim for that, nor will he have an assessment for that. I would say have your ESA award to hand, forms of ID and rental lease if you rent. It’s quite a straightforward application online with almost 1 question per page making it easy to complete. Get to know what your entitlement is now on ESA (all the different elements) and look up online what your entitlement should be when you migrate over so that you receive the correct amount. So for example online you could google, ‘will I receive SDP transitional production when I migrate to UC’.
Another thing to note is that if you are interviewed you are allowed to bring someone with for support, just let them know that’s what you will be doing if that’s the case.
Importantly, those who’s award is currently affected if someone claims carer allowance for them, for example my son has an SDP element which he would lose if I claimed carer allowance’ once he’s transitioned to UC a claim for carer allowance can be made as there is no SDP element on UC, only transitional protection instead. This also means if the person claims carer allowance or doesn’t claim it but is entitled to it, they can claim the carer element of UC. Most people don’t claim carer allowance when they’re on UC as it is deducted £for£, however they do claim the carer element instead.
Finally, remember that transitional protection erodes over time, so if your UC elements increase, for example they rise in April, your transitional protection decreases by the same amount, this continues until all the transitional protection erodes, in other words if you have transitional protection you’ll see no increase in your benefit annually, and this can take years for some.

@Lisascott to be clear the Transitional Protection will not be shown as SDP or EDP, it will just show at Transitional Protection, with an amount next to it. To calculate this they look at the figures for your previous benefits, then add up your maximum entitlement to UC and then TP will make up the difference between the two.
For someone to claim carers allowance or carers element of UC for looking after him once he migrates across please make sure that no one claims either of those within the first assessment period. If they do then it will affect his entitlement to TP. They can then claim either of those during his 2nd assessment period.
For his rental, during the application it will ask where he's living and you answer "supported housing" if that's where he's living and then housing element will not be included.
For anyone else reading this, if you have an appointee, that will be in place when you claim UC because it now carries over from your previous benefit, whereas prior to this it didn't. As you have someone to manage your claim for you, you should not be attending any appointments yourself, that's the responsibility of your appointee.

One other thing that I forgot to mention in my comment above. This happens a lot so I thought I'd need to mention it.
They may not always calculate your Transitional Protection in time for your first payment. They may not always have all elements included correctly on your first statement either. This is because the department who were previously paying your money may not have sent the details across to them in time for your first payment. Or they may not have been able to confirm some details in time.
If this happens your statement will usually be recalculated quite quickly… within a few days and you'll be paid what is owed.

@poppy123456 Many thanks for the information regarding the appointee attending any interviews as I’m my sons appointee and I wasn’t aware of that, could I ask if you have a link to any legislation regarding that just in case he’s invited in, which I’ll know about as I’m overseeing everything. I’d just like to have that to hand in case it comes up and that would be really helpful as prior to your comment I was going to accompany him if there was an interview, which because he’s been quite unwell recently with his mental health and because he doesn’t understand any of this I really didn’t want him going in.
Thank you in advance0
