Hi there
Have you managed to look into getting an electric wheelchair?
A friend of mine became imobile and housebound but when he got the wheelchair he was able to get out to the shops etc.

Hi @50reynolds, welcome to the Scope community 🙂 Hope we can help you out with this. Can I ask, do you receive PIP at all? There is some possible support if you get enhanced mobility rate on PIP.

yes I receive enhanced pip

If you receive enhanced mobility PIP you could look at Motability, many people think it's just cars but you can also get mobility scooters and powered wheelchairs through them as well. Would that be an option?
I'm just also going to move this over to our Transport and Travel category too since this topic fits there 🙂

You need a needs assessment from your Local Authority - they will then refer you to NHS wheelchairs who will then carry out their own assessment and if found suitable will issue you with a power chair for free !
Since you receive enhanced PIP - I see no issues.
Alternatively - you can have a wheelchair budget to pick your own choice of chair but then you are responsible for ALL costs once you have it !

Go and see your GP and get a referral for a wheelchair assessment. The wheelchair is then no charge. It is so maintained by NHS. Depending in hour area here can be a wait. In the meantime I bought a Mobiliry Plus electric wheelchair for under £800 it is extremely comfortable.
Or if you have high rate PIP you can use part of it to lease an electric chair or scooter and any repairs are included in the lease.
