Assuming this is PIP. If this is a review started by DWP then usually the extra money is paid from the date of the decision.

A decision maker has discretion to award from an earlier date, some do and others don't.

If you rang PIP to report the changes and you had the increased difficulties for at least 3 months then it should be paid from the date you rang to report the changes.

If you're moving from DLA to PIP then you will not be owed any money.

I have just rang them( PIP) they said even though I claimed from April..I ticked a different number of metres I could walk on the form to the one stated in my phone interview!?? I honestly can't believe it!! I had a claim for full mobility in 2020,then it was stopped

Appealed and taken off me .Reapplied again as I was informed that my Condition will never get better ( Fibromyalgia and Osteoarthritis..I have appealed this latest desicion

Hopefully someone will understand that when it was explained during phone interview I was more aware

Many thanks for your support in this matter

Hey @Maxymoo68, first of all welcome to the community 😊

Was this an initial decision by the decision maker? If you were awarded enhanced PIP from an application you started in April it doesn't really matter what you ticked back then!

So, was this an initial decision, an MR or a quick tribunal at all?

Just to update my comment, it is possible they determined that you only recently achieved the 3 months required to start receiving payments for PIP. So, using that argument they can say you don't need to be backdated. In appealing this you will just need to evidence that your conditions were affecting you enough, for the required 3 months, to entitle you to Enhanced Mobility.
