Scammed by Clothing Catalogue

I don't know if this has happened to anyone else. Two days ago I tried paid my catalogue bill in full. It didn't go through so I tried again. It kept saying there was a problem with the card. When they sent me three separate receipts I contacted them and they accepted their mistake a whopping £1,500+ mistake mind. They said it would be back in my bank within the day. It's now two days later and they have no record of it. I'm taking my evidence to the Fraud department of my bank and hope it will get sorted out. Ironically my gp sent me an email today requesting I take my blood pressure and send them my results PWAH ha ha, I don't think today is the right day do you. Any advice on the catalogue. Don't know if I should name it on here but it is a very well known one used by larger ladies.

I would contact your bank, most transactions that happen like this are automatically refunded and should reach your account within 3-5 working days. If the transactions clear completely then I would speak to them again and get them to refund and follow reporting procedures.

But most likely it will ping back into your account after a few days.

Contact the catalogue company once again and kindly request that their accounts department email you a copy of the bank transfer showing the refund has been processed. Typically, companies utilise CHAPS transfers for urgent transactions, which should appear in your account within two hours.

If the refund hasn't arrived as expected, it's likely they've used a standard transfer instead, which can sometimes take up to three days or even longer, depending on how promptly their accounts department processes requests for refunds.

After receiving this confirmation, double check that they have used your correct bank details when processing the refund. You can then contact your bank, they can often provide information on whether they are expecting the transaction, even if it hasn't yet become visible in your account.

Hi @Emma52, sorry this has happened to you. Rubin16 and MW123 have given some brilliant advice so far, so I don't have anything further to add there, but I just wanted to say I hope you get it all sorted.

Fingers crossed you can get the money back soon. Keep us updated with how you get on!
