Housing element is part of Universal Credit. In a recent thread of yours you were claiming ESA and doing permitted work. Are you now claiming UC instead of ESA?
Sorry for the questions but the advice will be different depend on which benefits exactly you're claiming.

I’m looking to claim uc because working more hours than permitted work - I’m wondering will my rent still be paid if I work 42.5 hrs - as I worked out I’ll still get about 230 uc after the work allowance and disability element etc

If you are going to be working more than permitted work amount, it is important to claim UC before you lose ESA for earning over the permitted work limit, otherwise your support group will not transfer to LCWRA.
You can work any amount of hours and still qualify for the housing element of UC, it is always added to the claim for anyone renting qualifying housing. The total UC is then reduced using the wage taper after your work allowance is applied.

ok great it’s only worth me working extra hours if I still get help with rent - I just applied for a job that’s in a building that’s very close to my heart it’s only just opened to the public after years of derelict— I still haven’t got the job yet - but I will transfer to uc before I start working for sure-
do they backdate the rent or will have to pay a months rent from the 5 weeks without uc?0 -
UC is paid 1 month in arrears. When you receive your payment it would be for the previous 1 month.
Don’t forget you will also have your earnings from full time work.
Whether there’s any entitlement to UC will depend on how much earnings you receive and what your maximum UC entitlement will be.

There are already people that have migrated across. When you migrate you will not be any worse off. If your UC entitlement is less than your current benefits then Transitional Protection will make up the difference.
As you're in the Support Group you'll be entitled to the LCWRA element from the start of your claim.

It's different for everyone and will depend on each individual circumstances. Your UC will include standard allowance, LCWRA element, housing element and any other elements you maybe entitled to. There may also be Transitional Protection on top.

I understand it can be quite scary, if you would like to read more about the migration we have an advice page here: Moving to Universal Credit and transitional protection | Disability charity Scope UK
If you feel like you need support with the migration when you receive you can always call the Scope helpline as well
