Is it worthwhile for me to apply?
Hi folks,
things all going well with my tribunal, I should be getting PIP by the end of the year.
[ FYI, ADHD, co-morbid learning issues, and a background of long term unemployments with smatterings of self-employe labouring, etc]
Thing is, my housemates suggesting that to help myself and to contribute to the house I should try apply for UC too.
Thing is, I don't know if it's not going to be a long voyage to a complete waste of time, given my situation,
[truncated version]
42, living with two professionals who are sinking their small fortunes into a nice expensive 3 bedroom house in West London.
I'm lodging, paying them an agreed £1,500 p/month board that I get through a family friend who's agreed to 'provide the net those Tory b*%£$%r never did', (his words).
(He's also trying to get rid of it before inheritance tax steals it after he shuffles off this mortal coil)
I'm learning that it's an absolute nightmare, even worse for someone with ADHD to try and plow through its multitudes of pages. And now I've seen it's dreadfully ran, and can cause issues with PIP, even if you eventually don't get UC.
So, is it worth the hassle, for someone SPECIFICALLY in my shoes, or similar?
you'l be saving me days of headaches, possibly!
appreciated , always

Hi @SonOfYorick, sorry no-one was able to reply sooner. Have you made a decision about applying? I would say there's no harm in applying, although I know the process can be stressful. You have managed to apply for PIP which is also very stressful so you're maybe somewhat already prepared. UC doesn't affect PIP at all so don't worry about that. At the end of the day it's your decision and what you feel able to do.
