No help from my MP

Hi all

not sure if this is in the right category but could do with some advice

About a year and a half ago I emailed my MP asking for help with an issue I have, after her secretary asking for more information before the MP would see me, I replied giving further information, the secretary then replied that the MP couldn’t help

About 4-5 weeks ago I emailed my MP again asking for help this time with a different issue, again her secretary replied asking for my full name and address to make sure I was in the MPs constituency, although my name and address was in the original email, I supplied it again this time no reply

Can anyone advise me if I can do anything regarding my MP not replying to me asking for assistance

Thanks

Hi @apples you could follow up with a phone call either to their Constituency office or the House of Commons.

You can find the Constituency office phone number on your MP's personal web site. House of Commons switch board 020 7219 3000 and ask for your MP by name.

    Good luck.

I suspect a phone call will just get you through to the same secretary.

Unfortunately MP's are very busy, and in my experience, and reading others online, rarely offer assistance with personal matters such as benefits or healthcare access. I tried emailing a few myself and didn't get any response at all.

Is it something that anyone else could assist with?

    Thanks @OverlyAnxious

I have contacted CA but I don’t find them helpful although I think they try, I have an issue with my landlord and feel I am being discriminated against

Have you tried contacting Shelter? I think they can offer advice on things like this.

Yes I think shelter would probably be your best bet for finding the right support here.

Is there a letting agency also involved or do you rent directly from the landlord @apples?

Hi @Jimm_Scope i think it’s a letting agent, but they are rogue, I know another tenant asked to speak to the landlord regarding the mess as when the agent is contacted he doesn’t do anything, but they refused to give the landlords details

The situation is stressing me so will give shelter a call monday

hi @vikki66 thanks for the reply, I was going to approach the council but according to CA as I have a short tenancy agreement the landlord can issue me with a no fault eviction, as much as I would like that I also have to be careful

Wouldn't Land Registry hold the freeholder's details and more to get you started?

apples, Labour's bill to end no-fault evictions - a Section 21 Notice - is expected to pass around May and be effective around December 2025.
