PIP decision

I rang PIP this morning about my son who turned 16 a few months ago.
he was on DLA middle care and low mobility for most of his childhood.
A decision was made yesterday- he’s been awarded enhanced mobility but no daily living.
I disagree but have been told to wait for the letter and then I can ask for a mandatory reconsideration. I asked them to send me a copy of the report too.
I can’t stop crying. I feel sick.
Does anyone know how long reconsiderations are taking right now?
Without his daily living I’ll lose a chunk of my income (carers allowance/disabled element etc) all the while he still can’t be left alone for longer than an hour or so 😭

When requesting the MR you should put that in writing stating where and why you think he should have scored those points.
When you filled out the form if you didn’t include a couple of real world examples of exactly what happened the last time he attempted each descriptor that applies.
Also include detailed information such as where he was, what exactly happened, did anyone see it and what the consequences were.
If you wait for the report please make sure you don’t focus too much on it. It’s fine to mention a couple of obvious errors but then put it to one side and forget about it.
MR decisions are currently taking up to about 15 weeks. Most decisions remain the same. If that happens you can proceed to Tribunal.
If it’s UC you’re claiming then you’ll still be entitled to the lower disabled child element. Carers element and carers allowance will stop.

we are still on legacy benefits, so I’m not sure how the disabled element works. Or what I’ll be set to lose.
Thank you for your help; I’m gonna make a start on rounding up his evidence again.

If it’s child tax credits then you’ll still be entitled to the lower disabled child element.
If you’re claiming Income Support as a carer then this will end unless you have a child under 5.
You don’t need to send any evidence that you’ve already sent.
