Our Health - Our Planet - resources website - awareness - health - Climate Clock

Hi this posts comes after discussion on another thread…
I was at the launch for the website a couple of weeks ago and I recently came back
https://ourhealthourplanet.co.uk
In the UK, we have 1.6 million health workers, 68 million people who use the health service, and 600 million healthcare interactions every year.
If we work together, the health system can be the key to solving the climate crisis
A collaboration of organisations
Centre for Sustainable Healthcare, UK Health Alliance on Climate Change, EcoMedics, Green Health Wales, Real Zero, Greener Practice, Society for Acute Medicine, SEE Sustainability, Plant-Based Health Professionals UK, European Centre for Environment and Human Health
The Climate Clock
Displays the deadline of how long we have before we reach an average temp rise of 1.5C (that doesn't sound much but it means far more extreme weather events, far more migration, and loss of life habitat etc)
The Lifeline all the positive things that HAVE happened going in the right direction.
The section for health professionals AND patients & the Public..
Different sections for the public include
*The basics of what climate change is and what it means for your health
*Why our natural world needs us and why we need it
*Information on keeping yourself safe from the worst effects of climate change
AND
*Taking Action
Together, we can literally save the world!
An excellent poster in colour & black & white to print/share etc etc
Now I in true Johnathan Pie style admit to being a hippocrite. I still do eat meat, not so much of it. As a disabled couple we get supermarket shopping which comes wrapped, often in single use plastic. Maybe the delivery van is electric, maybe not.
I get in a 4 or more seater car with just the driver because there aren't any frequent buses. For hospital appointments I take a taxi because hospital transport is insanely unreliable. I've been in a 6 seater cos that's what the taxi firm sent, just to go about I could in theory get a train & bus. But hey those aren't reliable (especially with increasingly flooded stations. Just to go 20 miles for a half hour clinic appointment.
And its 2024. We SHOULD have that efficient bus & rail service across the whole country.
We do try to visit the local refill shop and food co-operative getting cheap food that might otherwise go to waste. We do try & remember to take a bag.
I do work with a local Transition Town/Environmental Charity.
Health wise I rely on medication and supplies from over 9 countries! You probably do too.
I'm increasingly frustrated by the misinformation on the web… Its very easy for your mental health to get affected. When there's so much nonsense around.
Im frustrated that as a disabled person I HAVE to spend more time living in a way that's bad for me, my neighbour, my great nephew, everyone here. Because 'thats the way it is' And there are people with power knocking us back.
I'm not sure I can convince my neighbour that electric cars are actually OK & a GOOD THING

I've got another link on cycling

Or convince
Alone, not one can make the impact we need. I can't on my own. You can't either.
This is why people, charities & groups need to keep shouting and shouting loud!
I can aim to refuse, reduce, reuse, repurpose & then recycle. Do I really need that thing or can it wait a month.
I can change to the Planetary Health Diet into my menu
Which is pretty much the 'rainbow on a plate' you sometimes hear about

As a Brit I'm culturally obliged to apologise for this being so long, and maybe a bit of a rant.
