When I had my check last year, I uploaded my initial statements then added a journal note saying while on paper I'm over £6k, I hadn't declared this as it was due to CoL payments which I knew were disregarded.

After my phone appointment, I was asked to submit all the individual statement pages showing my CoL payments.

They then confirmed the calculation had been done and I was under £6k.

Are you expected to tell them your savings every month?

No, not if there's no changes. You only need to report increases and decreases if your capital goes above or below the next/previous level… for example, £6,001, £6,251, £6,501..

As Poppy says, you only need to update them if your savings move up or down through another £250 threshold on the final day of the assessment period.

In my case, that will be happening every month. But for most people it won't.

if the UC agent I spoke to is doing a full evaluation of my capital to subtract col payments, next time I have to update capital surly this process wont happen again.

Capital of less than £6,000 is ignored so no it will not affect it.

I don't understand your comment when you say "what's CoL got to do with UC?" It's got everything to do with it. CoL payments are disregarded from capital indefinitely providing your capital didn't drop below the level of CoL payments you received.

No one has been without their UC payments here. When going through one of these reviews they don't usually suspend your UC, providing you send them what they've asked for.

I don't think you have anything to worry about in this case.

This is for people who have over £6000 in capital (savings). All of the cost of living payments can be ignored when calculating that amount of capital. If you haven't got anywhere near £6000 in saving then it will not affect you. 🙂

£5,000? it's usually just £50 fine on top of any overpayment.
