edited October 2024 in Benefits and income

hi I was awarded sdp 2 months ago,I was told I could get it backdated so I called dwp up and they told me I couldn’t get it backdated. I called them up again today, and they told me that I have moved address within the Time I claimed pip so that’s why they can’t award me it. Is this right?

Hi @nikkilou, welcome to the community 🙂 Hopefully we can figure out what the issue is here. Can I ask, are in your receipt of any other benefits at all?

I'll just move this over to our Benefits category and hopefully we can help you figure out what has happened here!

It can be backdated but whether you were entitled to it at the time will depend on your circumstances.

oh ok what do you mean by circumstances. The only thing that’s changed is I moved address 3years ago now since I’ve claimed pip

    Thank you

To be entitled to SDP you must have either lived alone or be treated as living alone, dependant children do not count. No one must have claimed either carers allowance or carers element of Universal Credit for looking after you. Your PIP must have also included the daily living part.
