Hi, my name is Sandy61! Do I need to tell DWP about a lump sum from my pension?

Hi there, I am new to this group. I wanted to ask a question.... I am 63 years old and have recently retired on ill health. I get PIP and contribution based ESA. I have just received a lump sum pension and am due a monthly payment of approximately £459 per month.. Do I need to let DWP know about my lump sum? I know I need to let them know about the monthly payment but am waiting to receive the first payment before I contact them. Thank you

Yes, you need to let them know about both of them. For monthly pension income for every £1/week over £85 your ESA will reduce by 50p/week.
If you’re claiming other benefits as well such as council tax reduction and Universal Credit then you will need to report the changes to both.
Pension income will be deducted in full from any UC entitlement. Same applies if part of your ESA is Income Related.
