Hi to all

Just done my pip tribunal

I dont think I will be successful.

It lasted approx 1 hrs and 30 minutes and as lovely as the panel was and the dwp guy they stated a decision would be sent out in the post.

I always thought if you were successful they would let you know on the day.

Has anyone been successful by letter?

Anyway thankyou to all x

No, not at all. A lot of people do not have their decision on the day of the hearing and it doesn't mean they weren't successful. More than 70% of Tribunal hearings are successful.

If you were able to track your appeal online you can log in to check if you can see what the decision was. Many members have reported back saying they could see their decision online. You will receive the decision letter in the post, usually in a few days.

Hi and thankyou Poppy for your message.

I went online about 45mins ago and nothing was there.Even on the hearing heading there was no change(e.g hearing closed)

The court clerk told me the result normally goes on line after the result has been posted out.

    Thankyou Poppy x

You're welcome. It can take quite a few hours to update with the decision, hopefully it will be updated soon and you'll see.

    Hi Poppy,

Just went on line and checked my appeal result.

Was surprized on daily living they scorced me on 7 points, before I was on 4

However on mobilty they scorced me on standard rate for 10 points, where before I was on 0.

Complete shock but still happy they recognized what I struggle with, and will be a back date of 15 months from applying.Been given a 5 year award till 2028.

To anyone going to a tribunal, the panel were lovely, understanding and patient, very human.

Yes its a journey and a half, but keep strong and good luck to all.

Thankyou Scope people for all help and advice

I will still be looking in daily on here xx

I'm so glad you got good news :D Mine was also determined by letter, because it was late in the afternoon and they wanted to discuss it properly. Waiting is a nightmare (I didn't have the option to check online), but it's such a relief when you get a good result.

Not all of my tribunal panel were nice, either. One of them was extremely unpleasant.

Thankyou for your message, mine has late afternoon today, finished at 3.30 ish,I am glad to have seen the result on line, can maybe sleep abit better now.

I hope your result when it arrives will be good also,

My panel were lovely especially the doctor, though I still came away thinking I had failed.

How long since you had your tribunal ? x

Oh, I had my tribunal some time ago now, I was awarded. I just remember that they didn't decide on the day, and wrote me three days later I think it was. I was juggling postgrad studies and teaching as well, and it was a very stressful year, so it was just such a relief to have the result.

It was a three year award then but when it was reviewed it was put up to ten years.

Amazing news @Charlie5! I know how it can feel for that doubt to set in after something has happened such as your tribunal. I've had similar situations where I left thinking "that was the worst ever, it won't be a good outcome" and I've been pleasantly surprised. Congrats!

Thankyou for your kind words.I am glad it's all over. One thing I wanted to ask you though is when will the Dwp get in touch and ask the norm questions e.g bank account, any hospital stays etc.

    Many thanks x

It can be a bit more of a wait now @Charlie5. They should already have your bank account details but they may ring to confirm them as well as other details. It can take quite a few weeks, as the Tribunal has to sent the judgement over to the DWP and the DWP have to acknowledge it. If it's acknowledged and the DWP accepts it you should then start receiving the monthly payments. It can then take a few weeks longer to sort out backpay.

I can't give you an exact timespan unfortunately, I have heard some people waiting 8 weeks but I've also heard people getting it sorted much more quickly, but hopefully it all goes smoothly.

Thankyou for your prompt reply. If Dwp doesn't accepted the tribunal result what happens then? Or is that very unlikely to happen?

    Thankyou x

They can only not accept it and appeal to an Upper Tribunal if they believe there has been an error in law by the tribunal. This is quite rare.
