Hi I'm new here, I'm after some advice regarding PIP, I had my telephone assessment I explained everything throughly but when I read the copy of my assessment the lady that did it ticked that I could do everything, then in the comments section explained I could do everything (if you get what I mean),

Also I'm finding the bit where the assessor has stated a review in 18 months, but I haven't been awarded it, sorry this is long winded I'm just so confused any help will be great fully appreciate.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Have you had a decision letter yet?

If not then you will have to wait for that or ring them up to clarify any potential award.

Hey @Peggy0011, welcome to the scope community 🙂 I'm sorry to hear the assessment report contradicts what you said. The decision maker tends to go with the assessment report, however you do have the appeals process still. You can read more about it here on our advice pages: Appealing a benefits decision | Disability charity Scope UK

Once you do get the decision you can send the Mandatory Reconsideration (MR). We recommend sending it by letter with proof of delivery. It can be done over the phone, but you cannot guarantee they put in what you say word for word. It's best done in your own words.

The first part of the report will be things that you’ve said in the form and extra things you’ve said during the assessment.

At the bottom of each descriptor there will be the assessors justification for choosing that descriptor but it may not match with what you’ve said. This is their opinion based on everything you said, what you wrote in the form and any additional evidence you may have sent.

They often give a timeframe for a review even if there’s no recommendation for enough points needed for an award.

The report is just a recommendation. I have known them to go against the report, though it is rare.

Thanks for all yoir comments, so when I got my assessment report back and read it the assessor has ticked boxes that says I can do things, but she has then contradict herself by I can't do the things xyz in the comments box where they write notes, this is the part I'm finding confusing - as why tick box saying I can do it, then write a comment saying I can't and why I cant

    Thanks
