Presumably that came from the DWP.

Have you asked the assessment provider?

Yes I have asked the DWP to provide me with the assessment report without the name of the assessor redacted but I have not received a reply

I meant asking the outside agency that did your assessment, the agency that the assessor works for. Unless you live in one of the very few areas that the DWP themselves handle the entire process.

Was it a general query or a formal complaint?

If you've not tried the latter that might be an idea.

It was a complaint but I have never received any reply to it.

The 28-day deadline generally refers to when the form should be received by the UC Department, not when it’s sent. Since your form was only one day late, you might have grounds to appeal the decision or request a reconsideration, especially if you can explain the situation. I recommend contacting UC again to explain the delay and ask if they can review your case, potentially allowing you to provide an explanation for the late arrival.

Do you know which regulation or legislation confirm what you say?

    Dear Peter1,

I'm really sorry to hear about the situation with your UC50 form. It must be very frustrating, especially since you made every effort to send it on time using Next Day Guarantee Delivery.

Based on what you've shared, it would be a good idea to contact the Universal Credit department again and explain the situation. Since you were not informed that your form was received late, you were not given the opportunity to provide a valid reason for the delay. You could request them to reconsider your case and ask if there is a way to appeal the decision.

Additionally, it might help to provide proof of when you sent the form, such as your postal receipt and tracking details, showing that you posted it within the deadline. If needed, you can also reach out to a welfare rights advisor or Citizens Advice for further guidance on how to proceed.

I hope you are able to get this resolved soon. Wishing you the best of luck!

    Best regards,
    Robert Watts
